The Riverside Reptiles Education Center is a zoo dedicated to reptiles and amphibians. Its collection contains 70 species of indigenous and exotic animals, including snakes, lizards, alligators, turtles, and other creatures from around the world, with some opportunities for interaction. In addition to its 13,000 sq. ft. indoor facility, there is a 4,000 sq. ft. outdoor turtle and tortoise habitat called “Turtle Haven,” which is seasonally open. There is a gift store on the premises.

Located on four acres in a 735-acre woodland park in Springfield, MA, the Zoo is home to over 225 exotic and native animals. These include mammals, primates, birds, reptiles, invertebrates, and barnyard animals. The Zoo, which first opened 1894 and was once owned by Dr. Suess' father, works with wildlife rehabilitators to provide homes to wildlife considered non-releasable for various reasons. A wheelchair is available for a $10 refundable deposit.
